News: The FCHS Band is London Bound!General News To: 2008 Fayette County Marching Tigers From: Myra Rhoden, FCHS Director of Bands Re: London Meeting Recap (March 18, 2008) Please note the following information about the trip to London in December. THERE ARE STILL SPOTS AVAILABLE FOR STUDENTS and PARENTS. Let's go!!!!!! ACCOUNT PAYMENT: Each person should have at least $1000.00 in their London account, if you followed our monthly payment schedule of $200.00 per month. It is imperative that you send payments, as we have to send payments to London on a regular basis. Please remit as much as possible to the band box at your school (FCHS, FMS, or BMMS). Make checks payable to FCHS Band Boosters. Dates: December 26, 2008 - January 2, 2009 Parade: Route is 2.2 miles. Maps and additional information can be found at www.londonparade.co.uk. Parade Spectator Seats: Will be available for purchase for the grand stand. You may watch the parade from the street for no charge, if you wish. Itinerary: Will be finalized at the beginning of next school year. It will include organized educational tours, as well as time for general sight-seeing and shopping. Passports: Each traveler must have a current passport. Refunds will not be given to those who fail to receive one before the travel date. It is suggested that a family member not traveling with your child acquires a passport, in case of emergency. Hotel: Accommodations have not yet been determined, however, we will stay at a hotel associated with the Thistle Hotel Group (www.thistlehotels.com). Students will be three per room (roommates TBD). Adults will be two per room unless otherwise requested (will affect price.) Phone: Hotel room phones will only call the front desk and other rooms. Students must use phone cards purchased in London or make collect calls from the hotel lobby. Contact your cell phone carrier about international calls and rates. E-mail: Hotel will have a business center that costs, however, internet cafe's are in and around the city if you would like to communicate by email. Food: Will be student friendly. Dietary restrictions will be taken into consideration. Breakfast and Dinner is included. Students will need to bring money for lunch if they wish. Clothing: Layered clothing is recommended as the temperature varies throughout the day. Spending Money: $150 - $200 per person is suggested. Investigate pre-paid Visa/MasterCards. Bank transfer rates may be much cheaper in the long run than changing the money on your own and using cash. Discipline: Please be reminded that this is a school trip and that all rules and regulations will be enforced.
